EMBER LAB, AUTHORS OF THE ACLOCAD KENA: BRIDGE OF SPIRITS , revealed that the game already regained its initial development costs, in addition to mentioning that Sony was very satisfied with the results. Mike and Josh Grier, Founders of the Study, also commented that there were several other large publishers interested in the project.
Before Kena: Bridge of Spirits , EMBER LAB was an animation studio, so this was its first video game. The fact that Sony would be interested in the project motivated the brothers grier to make their best, and in the end, it was worth it. In fact, Kena was going to be revealed next to PlayStation 5 in early 2020, but due to the pandemic, the plans changed.
The brothers grier did not give specific figures on how many copies the game was sold, however, they said that they already recovered the initial production expenses, which will allow them to continue creating more titles. In the words of Josh Grier:
It s hard to say if we could consider it as a huge success. But Sony is satisfied. We will no longer become commercial.
Certainly it will be interesting to know what follows later for EMBER LAB , but now that Sony discovered its potential, maybe a future acquisition is on the way.
Remember that KENA: BRIDGE OF SPIRITS will come in physical format to PS5 and PS4 The next November 23.
Editor s note: Without a doubt this is an excellent news, because it means that the game has been having very good results in terms of sales, so its authors could be much more motivated to continue building this universe. Maybe not with a direct sequel, but yes with a series or film.
